The Application Process

About the JET Program

“The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is administered through the collaboration of Japan’s local government authorities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR).”

The JET Program aims at promoting grassroots internationalization at a local level within Japan. College graduates from around the world are recruited to serve as educators and cultural representatives of their home country. Participants will work and complete duties within schools (elementary to high school), government offices, and Boards of Education. The JET Program is one of the largest international exchange programs in the world, with over 70,000 individuals participating from 75 countries since its establishment in 1987.
