This was my second apartment in Japan. It was located in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka. It was fairly new and nice. However, the rent was very expensive compared with my Kumamoto and Oita apartments.

Location

It was in Osaka, and it was a 10-15 minute train ride to “downtown” Umeda Station. It was a convenient place to live in and a few minutes walk to the nearest train station!

Prices

  • Rent: 60,000 yen (monthly)
  • Electric: 3,000 – 5,000 yen (monthly)
  • Gas: 5,000 – 10,000 yen (monthly)
  • Water: Free
  • Cleaning fee for moving in/out: 35,000 yen (1-time fee)

Inside the 1LDK (Loft)

My place was a loft with a small room. I sometimes slept in the loft, but it was a bit small for me. I slept in the main room under my air conditioner where I used my laptop and ate meals. I also had a nice bathroom and a tiny kitchen.

The best part about a Leo Palace is that it is entirely furnished. I didn’t need to buy any appliances, just bedding. The apartment came with internet (very fast). And, it did have a balcony and washer.
However, I would avoid this solution if you do not intend to stay in Japan longer than one year.

Sam

Over 7 years of living in Japan, it was my second home. It's a fantastic and magical place with a unique culture that is different from anything else.
